Revamping of a Rotary Kiln

Description of the mission

• The installation had more or less 1,000 digital inputs and 400 digital outputs as well as 200 analogue inputs and 50 analogue outputs.
• For the automation and MES component, the work consisted of the development of a PLC program in the new range of Rockwell PLCs and the development of the supervision views under Wonderware Archestra.

Client Challenges

It consisted of their largest lime kiln. The aging installations were controlled by Rockwell PLC5 family automatons. As this family comes to the end of its life, it will soon no longer be supported by Rockwell. The customer therefore decided to replace the entire electrical command part of the installation. As these installations are crucial to the supply of its customers, a maximum of one month’s shutdown for all on-site work was imposed on us by the customer. The installations were restarted on time under the new system!
