{"id":25962233,"date":"2025-06-03T15:19:59","date_gmt":"2025-06-03T13:19:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.technord.com\/technord-at-the-heart-of-energy-innovation-with-the-ipalle-thumaide-storage-project\/"},"modified":"2025-06-16T09:22:21","modified_gmt":"2025-06-16T07:22:21","slug":"technord-at-the-heart-of-energy-innovation-with-the-ipalle-thumaide-storage-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.technord.com\/en\/technord-at-the-heart-of-energy-innovation-with-the-ipalle-thumaide-storage-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Technord at the heart of energy innovation with the Ipalle Thumaide storage project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p>Technord is proud to have contributed its technical expertise to a pioneering energy transition project: the installation of a <strong>1.4 MWh stationary electrical energy storage unit<\/strong>, powered by second-life batteries, at the Thumaide site.<\/p>\n\n<p>This project, led by <a href=\"https:\/\/ipalle.be\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IPALLE<\/a> in collaboration with Belgian scale-up <a href=\"https:\/\/www.octave.energy\/fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Octave<\/a>, aims to enhance the flexibility of the Belgian power grid, while at the same time promoting a circular economy. An ambitious initiative to which Technord has contributed as a key technical partner. <\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A complete mission, from design to commissioning<\/h2>\n\n<p>Our <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.technord.com\/en\/industrial-electricity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Low Voltage, Medium Voltage<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technord.com\/en\/industrial-automation-process-control\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Automation and Process Control<\/a> <\/strong>departments took charge of all electrical and automation work:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Workshop design and manufacture of a main LV board adapted to the 1600 kVA transformer, a distribution panel and a fiber optic cabinet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On-site installation of HV\/LV cables, electrical equipment (transformers, inverters, batteries), as well as security, lighting and air-conditioning systems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coordination of subcontracting for protection systems (lightning arresters, fire detection and extinguishing systems).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Detailed electrical studies (calculations, diagrams, bills of materials).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FAT\/SAT tests to guarantee system reliability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Training for IPALLE teams to ensure optimal handling.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>We regularly work with our customers on a wide range of projects, where close collaboration between our teams is a real lever for success.<\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Technology at the service of the environment<\/h2>\n\n<p>Thanks to this storage solution based on second-life batteries, 80 MWh of batteries are reused and 2,600 tonnes of CO\u2082 avoided.
