{"id":25960258,"date":"2024-10-03T10:30:06","date_gmt":"2024-10-03T08:30:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.technord.com\/revamping-of-a-main-plc-for-the-biopharmaceutical-sector\/"},"modified":"2024-10-07T14:38:56","modified_gmt":"2024-10-07T12:38:56","slug":"revamping-of-a-main-plc-for-the-biopharmaceutical-sector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.technord.com\/en\/revamping-of-a-main-plc-for-the-biopharmaceutical-sector\/","title":{"rendered":"Revamping of a main PLC for the biopharmaceutical sector"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Discover the added value of our Process Control and Automation team&#8217;s involvement in the revamping of a production workshop&#8217;s main PLC at the site of a global player in the healthcare sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Customer challenge<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The workshop&#8217;s main PLC was a Siemens S7-300 connected to various Eurotherm or Wago remote input\/output stations.<br\/>These stations enable data from the various actuators to be fed back as close as possible to the machine.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main PLC also communicated with a supervision system developed on a proprietary system.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aim of the project entrusted to Technord was to <strong>replace the main PLC as well as the remote inputs\/outputs, while maintaining communication with the existing supervision system.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br\/>In addition, the <strong>electrical part<\/strong> (wiring of sensors and actuators from the control cabinets) also had to be <strong>renovated<\/strong>. A <strong>study <\/strong>had to be carried out by our <strong>teams <\/strong>to confirm the possibility of <strong>maintaining communication between the new PLC and the supervision system<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Technord&#8217;s solution<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the study had been carried out and the electrical part refurbished, we moved on to the automation part:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Replacement of <\/strong>the PLC by a Siemens ET200SP PLC<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Convert <\/strong>existing STEP7 program to TIA Portal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Transfer of control loops<\/strong> previously managed by the two Eurotherm PLCs to the ET200SP PLC<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Setting <strong>up<\/strong> <strong>communication <\/strong>with the former supervisor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Gain for the customer<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following our intervention, the new automation architecture based on a Siemens ET200SP :<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Guarantees <\/strong>plant <strong>longevity <\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Simplifies <\/strong><strong>architecture<\/strong> by generalizing <strong>Siemens <\/strong>compared with previous architecture (Siemens + EuroTherm + Wago)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Simplifies <\/strong> <strong>spare parts<\/strong> <strong>management<\/strong> (no need to keep Eurotherm and Wago systems in stock)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allows customer teams to take over <strong>control loop management<\/strong> more <strong>easily<\/strong> (no in-house expertise on Eurotherm PLCs)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Discover the added value of our Process Control and Automation team&#8217;s involvement in the revamping of a production workshop&#8217;s main PLC at the site of a global player in the healthcare sector.
